How to test a takeaway container before you order

How to test a takeaway container before you order
When to use thisYou have samples of boxes or bowls and want to know if they will survive real delivery conditions.

Steps

  1. Fill it with your real foodUse the hottest, oiliest or saucier dish on your menu, at serving temperature.
  2. Close it and wait 30 minutesThis matches a typical delivery time. Check for softening, seeping and lid lift.
  3. Stack, bag and carry itStack two or three, put them in your delivery bag and walk with them.
  4. Reheat if your customers doMicrowave bagasse containers; never microwave PLA or lined paper.
  5. Note sizes that workRecord the item number and dimensions of the samples that pass, so you reorder exactly what you tested.

Key parameters

  • Bagasse: approx. −10–120 °C, microwave-safe
  • Lined paper: 0–100 °C, not for microwave
  • PLA: 0–45 °C

Common mistakes

  • Testing with water instead of real food
  • Judging a lid fit without stacking and carrying
  • Reordering by a similar-looking item instead of the tested item number
